FA1ME

In 1990, under the name Fondmetal-Osella, the team raced with the FA1M‑E, a single-seater that was an upgraded version of the FA1M‑89. The design, created by Antonio Tomaini with contributions from Ignazio Lunetta, retains the Ford Cosworth DFR V8 tuned by Brian Hart, while the carbon-fiber monocoque and clean lines remain essentially the same as those used in the past.

The most significant changes compared to the FA1M-89 involve the wheelbase—which has been lengthened by about 10 mm—and the repositioning of the suspension/shock absorber assembly, which has been moved back to the front of the car, rather than under the cockpit as in the previous version. New air intakes have also been added to the bodywork to improve cooling and aerodynamic flow.

At the helm is Olivier Grouillard, the only driver on the roster for the season. He made his debut at the San Marino.
