Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

You can use the auto filter by selecting your vehicle’s make, model, and year. The page will display a selection of Fondmetal wheels that are compatible with your car.

No. When a wheel is described as “perfect for Audi,” it does not mean that it is compatible exclusively with Audi vehicles. In this case, the description refers to compatibility with original Audi wheel covers, known as “OE Cap Compatible.”

This allows you to use the original center caps while maintaining an OEM look—that is, one that is identical to the automaker’s original design.

“OE Cap Compatible” means that the wheel is designed to accommodate the automaker’s original hub caps. For example, an OE Cap Compatible wheel for BMW allows you to install original BMW hub caps directly, without adapters or modifications.

This detail does not automatically mean that the wheel is compatible with all models of the brand. Before installation, it is always necessary to check all the technical specifications for the vehicle.

The rim width refers to the internal width of the wheel at the point where the tire is mounted. It is expressed in inches, with values such as 8J, 8.5J, or 9J.

In the 8.5J designation, the number indicates the rim width, while the letter identifies the rim profile. This measurement affects tire compatibility and the final appearance of the wheel assembly. Each tire can only be installed within a specific range of recommended widths.

The ET, also known as Offset, indicates the distance between the geometric center of the wheel and the contact surface on the vehicle’s hub. It is expressed in millimeters with values such as ET35 or ET45.

A higher ET brings the wheel closer to the inside of the wheel well, while a lower ET moves it farther outward. This parameter affects the vehicle’s appearance and the available space for its brakes and suspension.

PCD, which stands for “Pitch Circle Diameter,” refers to the diameter of the imaginary circle that passes through the centers of the wheel’s mounting holes. It is expressed using notations such as 5×112 or 4×100.

In the designation 5×112, the first number represents the number of mounting holes, while the second indicates the diameter of the (imaginary) rim in millimeters. The PCD must match the vehicle’s specified PCD exactly to ensure proper and safe installation.

The center bore isthe central hole in the wheel that fits onto the vehicle’shub. Its size is expressed in millimeters, for example, 66.5 mm or 72.6 mm.

A properly sized center bore ensures that the wheel is perfectly centered on the hub, helping to reduce vibrations and ensuring a precise fit. If the wheel’s center bore is larger than the vehicle’s hub, you can use special centering rings. If, on the other hand, it is smaller, the wheel cannot be installed.

Reducing the mass of the wheels means not only reducing the total mass of the car, but more importantly reducing the unsprung mass.
The less unsprung mass, the better the tires' ability to stay in contact with the road surface.
