Although the chassis was carried over from the previous season, the changes were significant\u2014particularly the switch from the Cosworth <span class=\"s1\"><b>DFR<\/b><\/span> to the more powerful and modern <span class=\"s1\"><b>Ford Cosworth HB<\/b><\/span> (HBA5 version), the same engine used in the Benetton B191, with an estimated power gain of between 100 and 120 cavalli.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The single-seater is designed by the engineers <span class=\"s1\"><b>Robin Herd<\/b><\/span>, <span class=\"s1\"><b>Tim Holloway<\/b><\/span> and <span class=\"s1\"><b>Tino Belli<\/b><\/span>: The GR01 features a carbon-fiber monocoque, double-wishbone suspension with pushrods, and <span class=\"s1\"><b>Goodyear<\/b><\/span> tires, and <span class=\"s1\"><b>Agip<\/b><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">In the meantime, the team is developing the next model, the <span class=\"s1\"><b>GR02<\/b><\/span>, which will make its debut at the 1992 Canadian Grand Prix, definitively replacing the GR01.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"parent":0,"menu_order":0,"template":"","class_list":["post-11054","auto-f1","type-auto-f1","status-publish","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v28.6 (Yoast SEO v28.6) - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-premium-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>GR01 - Fondmetal<\/title>\n<meta name=\"robots\" content=\"index, follow, max-snippet:-1, max-image-preview:large, max-video-preview:-1\" \/>\n<link rel=\"canonical\" href=\"https:\/\/fondmetal.com\/en\/auto-f1\/gr01\/\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:locale\" content=\"en_US\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:type\" content=\"article\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:title\" content=\"GR01\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:description\" content=\"At the start of the 1992 season, Fondmetal (under the leadership of Gabriele Rumi) began the World Championship with a single-seater that was still rooted in the past: the GR01 was developed as an evolution of the Fomet\u202f1, rather than as an entirely new model.
